Apple Crumble Filling

Cheats Crumble

This is a natural warming, comforting dessert that will really satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt

Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 Cups Fruit of your choice Enough to almost fill pan
  • 2 to 3 TBSP Granulated sugar Depending on the sweetness of the fruit
  • 1/2 Lemon squeezed Add to your liking
  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon Optional

For the crumble topping:

  • 1 Cup All purpose flour, or any flour of your choice
  • 1 Tbsp Chia seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Flax Seeds
  • 1/2 Cup Organic porridge oats
  • 1 Tbsp Mixed seeds Sunflower/Pumpkin/Millet Seeds Optional
  • 1 Tbsp Organic rye flakes/Buckwheat flakes/Quinoa flakes/Barley flakes Optional
  • 1/2 Cup Packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 8 Tbsp (Stick) butter Chilled

Instructions

  1. To prepare the filling

    Chop the fruit small & add it along with the sugar & cinnamon to a non stick pan with lemon juice & a little water to cover. Simmer gently until softened, thickened & sweet

  2. For the topping

    Add flour, sugar cinnamon to a bowl & chop the chilled butter into small chunks, either add this mix to a food processor or crumble together in your hands until the mix resembles a sand like texture, then add the oats & seeds (if using)

  3. Once filling is cooked place it into an oven dish & add the crumble topping. Sprinkle an extra light layer of sugar over the top to make it crisp up nicely & bake in a hot oven for 25 minutes, or until topping is golden brown & filling is bubbling.

Recipe Notes

Depending on the fruit you're using, you will need to adjust the amount of sugar to your own liking, some fruits are more sweeter than others.
