With the blessed month of Ramadan on our doorstep, it’s time to start taking our eating habits into consideration & prepare for the body, mind & soul detox we are about to embark on!
This post was originally written about the reward for fasting the 9th of Dhul Hijjah –
Allah will forgive the fasting persons sins from the previous year and the coming year thereby two years worth of sins are expiated for him on account of his fasting this blessed day.
I am re-sharing this recipe because it has gotten me through fasting with ease & I feel it’s of great benefit to eat well, especially when your body needs to retain its energy.

So let’s not be foolish and pass up such an opportunity! Fasting isn’t always easy, we need to start by eating something that slowly releases energy, that will keep us going throughout the day. So here is my take on a #bishbashbosh, easy energy boosting Parfait!
Easy Parfait -
Ingredients
- 2-3 Bananas Sliced
- Handful of fresh dates chopped. I used Algerian Deglet Nour but any is fine
- 1 Cup Porridge oats
- 2 Weetabix
- Honey
- Natural yoghurt
- Summer berries or any fruit you fancy
- Mixed chopped or whole nuts
Instructions
-
There's no real method, you can be as creative as you like! Grab some large glasses & gather ingredients and add them layer by layer. I started with the Weetabix crushed, then berries, yoghurt, honey, banana chopped dates & nuts. Then a layer of porridge, more berries, yoghurt & repeat until you've filled the glass with as many alternate layers as possible.
Recipe Notes
I tend to put the sweet stuff like honey, dates and berries on top of the weetabix & porridge as they have no real flavour on their own.... that's It! Pop In the fridge overnight & enjoy for your suhoor (pre-fasting meal) before Fajr (dawn) prayer.
See! Told you it was as easy as Bish, Bash, Bosh! 😂 Let me know in the comments below what you would put in your parfait? & don’t forget to share!
